OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING)

Job Description and Duties

If this is a limited term position, it may be extended up to 24 months and / or become permanent.Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I (SSMI), the Office Technician- Typing (OT), performs various duties in the Examination and Cashiering Unit, including, but not limited to the following- Cashier licensing, examination, and renewal applications; Process requests for replacement licenses, certificates, cite / fine, and cost recovery; Process reimbursement of dishonored checks related to applications and renewals; Prepare revenue refunds, cash refunds, and revenue transfers; Review and process name change requests; Maintain and update renewal cashiering log files, refunds and transfer log files. Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries either in person, in writing, and / or over the telephone; Provide detailed and complex information to cashiering inquiries regarding the renewal process, insufficient fees and dishonored checks, which requires computer, typing, and research skills. Maintain Cashiering Unit records and filing and performs periodic reviews of the Unit's files for record retention and confidential destruction, when necessary. In all job functions, employees are responsible for creating an inclusive, safe, and secure work environment that values diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences, and is free from discrimination. Working Conditions

The incumbent works Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. in an office setting with artificial light and temperature control.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

Background Check Requirement : Title 11, Section 703(d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring.
