Description : Summary

The Business Development Specialist – Motion Control Products implements the company's marketing plan to achieve sales and profit goals by directing the sales / marketing efforts through our representatives and distributors in a number of assigned territories in the U.S.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assumes primary responsibility for the maintenance and growth of business in an assigned geographic territory within the US and / or Canadian regions.
  • Assists Independent Representatives in identifying and developing targets for new customers and follows-up on those recommendations.
  • Takes on a leadership role with territory / channel management including evaluating and maximizing the performance of Representatives and Distributors in their assigned territories.
  • Point-of-Contact for Independent Representatives and customers for explaining the technical functions and uses of company products. This can include giving on-site training presentations.
  • Responsible for professional quotations of all custom products in assigned territory.
  • Makes sales calls to management representatives such as Engineers, or other professional and technical personnel at commercial, industrial, and other establishments and attempts to convince prospective clients of values and benefits of products or services offered.
  • Assists Management in developing marketing / sales plans and goals for their territories.
  • Assists the sales and customer service departments as required.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions, customer visits, and expense accounts.
  • Participates in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, and analysis of market research.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of related sales or technical experience; or five to ten years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requirements

  • Ability to build solid relationships with customers, external representatives, and distributors.
  • Successfully work collaboratively across the organization.
  • In-depth understanding of the motion control industry with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Sound decision making skills even when ambiguity exists.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers, and the general public.
  • Strong organization skills to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Confidentiality, integrity, and effective communication skills are required.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with ERP and CRM software.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time to visit customers, prospective customers, or for other professional events that can be either domestic or international (via plane or car). Occasionally, work is done during non-traditional days and / or hours is required.
