Job Summary :
The Health Educator is responsible for the planning and implementation of Healthy Start’s group-based education activities, which include the provision of evidence-based or scientifically informed health promotion information to pre-conception, pregnant, and interconception women, their partners, and families.

What You’ll Do :
Guide and lead the development of group education and group healthcare initiatives.
Partner with community organizations to provide group-based education in the Greater Harrisburg community.
Collaborate with the Healthy Start team to provide relevant group education to enrolled Healthy Start participants.
Facilitate all group education sessions both at Hamilton and in the community.
Work closely with Hamilton’s Women’s Health Department to implement group prenatal care and identify and recruit eligible prenatal patients.
Co-facilitate group prenatal care sessions at Hamilton Health Center sites.
Conduct outreach and develop recruitment strategies to increase attendance at group education sessions.
Accurately and efficiently track, manage, and document all required data.
Maintain professional boundaries and ethical conduct in all interactions.
Attend all necessary department and team meetings.
Participate in department events and outreach activities as able.
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures as required by program funding organizations and other regulatory agencies.
Complete and keep track of continuing education credits as required by program regulations.
Requirements :
Presentation Skills : Ability to communicate clearly and intentionally in front of an audience, and one (1) year of experience delivering health-related or curriculum-based education.
Initiative and Creativity : Ability to navigate program partnerships, resolve challenges, and develop educational presentations and materials independently.
Tech-Savvy : Proficiency in basic data entry computer skills and the ability to learn new software or databases specific to the role.
Strong Interpersonal Skills : Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Cultural Humility : Awareness of one’s own worldview and understanding that different worldviews exist, and cultural knowledge of key populations that will be served to address disparities in services and care.
Team Player : An industrious and cooperative nature to foster harmonious working relationships with colleagues, leadership, community partners, and community members.
Education Background : A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Schedule Flexibility : Ability to adjust schedule to meet the needs of group participants by working the occasional evening and / or weekend.
Valid Driver’s License : Ability to travel throughout the service area.
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, social work, or a related field preferred.
In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, any combination of related education and experience will be considered.
Experience providing health education in the maternal-child health field is preferred.
Knowledge of community resources in Dauphin County and surrounding areas.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
