Job Location
San Diego, CA, Hybrid. This position allows a hybrid work structure, under which an employee can work remotely for up to 2 days per week, between Tuesday and Thursday, after completing a probationary period and based on demands of specific tasks. Working from the office is encouraged for some tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
Job Description
GALT Aerospace is seeking a full-time, salaried Software Engineer II or II. They will be handling the following responsibilities :
Lead and contribute to the full lifecycle of software development-from requirements analysis, architecture design, and implementation to deployment and sustainment
Build and maintain robust full-stack applications, with an emphasis on front-end interfaces (Vue.js), RESTful APIs, and backend services in Python
Integrate new features and capabilities into complex, multi-VM Systems-of-Systems, deployed in fully air-gapped / disconnected environments
Design and refine Ansible playbooks to automate the configuration and provisioning of Red Hat-based Linux systems and Windows VMs
Containerize system components using Docker
Administer Linux (RHEL) and Windows servers and workstations, including configuration, patching, scripting (Bash, PowerShell), and system hardening
Support virtualization environments using VMware Workstation and ESXi
Contribute to internal process improvement initiatives and collaborate via code reviews and architecture discussions
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related STEM field
5+ years of experience developing full-stack applications, including hands-on experience with :
js or similar front-end frameworks
Python and Bash scripting
RESTful API design and consumption
Strong experience with Python or other programming languages
Knowledge of Linux administration (RHEL preferred)
Experience with databases (e.g., Redis)
Experience with data structures
Experience with containerized applications using Docker
Familiarity with disconnected build and deployment strategies (e.g., offline repo mirroring, local pip / npm registries)
Strong understanding of CI / CD tools, preferably Jenkins, with Git-based workflows
Experience with Ansible for configuration management
Proficient in Git and standard version control practices
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain / maintain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education
Experience deploying or maintaining VMs with VMware Workstation and / or ESXi
Hands-on experience operating in disconnected / air-gapped environments (no reliance on Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms)
Networking knowledge including multicast, DNS, firewalls, and virtual bridges
Experience working with low-level hardware / software integrations (e.g., drivers, GPIO, serial comms, kernel)
Familiarity with DevOps practices tailored for highly regulated or secure systems
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across system layers (application, OS, network)
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and standards
Experience in DevOps methodologies and practices
Active DoD clearance or ability to reinstate one
Advanced degree or certifications in related technical disciplines
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Person in this position needs to occasionally move about the facility
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
Pay Scale
At GALT Aerospace, base pay is one part of the total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as one grows and develops within a role. The base pay for this role is between $100,000 -$140,000, and a specific candidate's base pay will depend on their skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
