  • The Deployment & New Technology Senior Engineer is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of IT infrastructure services at Frontier Airlines' newly opened airports. This role involves managing business projects, coordinating various resourcesincluding Operational IT staff, airport personnel, contractors, and business unitsand ensuring seamless technology deployments.

    The Deployment & New Technology Engineer will deploy and support computer systems, network hardware, and operating systems while troubleshooting complex deployment challenges. This position requires direct interaction with airline and airport management and vendors to facilitate smooth technological rollouts.

    Essential Functions

  • Oversee and monitor SLA compliance for deployment activities.
  • Enforce IT standards to ensure consistency and regulatory compliance.
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and service levels.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff and operational IT support.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and oversee third-party services related to IT deployments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively.
  • Coordinate and support IT deployment initiatives to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Proactively identify and address work that enhances the overall IT environment.
  • Own and be accountable for the overall delivery of IT services at airports and other locations.
  • Assist in technical investigations, root cause analysis, and process reviews to resolve IT-related deployment issues.
  • Coordinate repairs or replacement of defective IT equipment.
  • Coordinate large-scale, complex IT projects, including :
  • Opening new airport locations
  • Determining hardware requirements
  • Developing Cable plans
  • Assist with scope changes with business unit leadership
  • Ensure proper documentation of all deployment activities, including network configurations, hardware inventory, troubleshooting steps, and procedural guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT deployments, ensuring consistency in processes and ease of knowledge transfer.
  • Create and update deployment runbooks, checklists, and best practice guides to support future implementations.
  • Work with the Station Support team on MAC projects (Moves, Adds, Changes) and provide ongoing support for Frontier station needs.
  • Support Station Support operations when not engaged in deployments.
  • Other Functions

  • Track and resolve open issues via phone, email, or ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering to ensure new station equipment is reporting correctly.
  • Train and guide Helpdesk and Operational IT teams on new processes.
  • Provide IT operational support as needed.
  • Other Responsibilities as required
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years' experience in airport or airline IT operations.
  • 5+ years' experience in understanding airline operations.
  • 5+ years' experience supporting MS Windows, networked printers, and PC hardware / software.
  • IT Project Management experience (preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of LAN, WAN, fiber, wireless, and cellular technologies.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Cisco Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, and Firewalls.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, such as VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
  • Experience with IT operations tools and technologies, such as ITSM, monitoring systems, and incident management platforms.
  • Strong understanding of deployment processes and methodologies.
  • Experience with IT help desk ticketing systems.
  • Good analytical skills and issue prioritization.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Demonstrates thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience with incident management tracking systems.
  • Ability to create detailed, user-friendly documentation for IT processes, configurations, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to foster teamwork and collaboration.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Adaptability to new, changing, or dynamic environments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency (preferred).
