POSITION DESCRIPTION

HGL is currently seeking a mid-level Engineer to support large-scale mining environmental remediation and construction projects in the Western US. As an Engineer III, you will work with our high performing HGL team and be responsible for supporting HGL’s portfolio of environmental remediation projects for various clients including USEPA and Montana Department of Environmental Quality. Projects may include remedial design support, oversight of remedial action (RA), remediation, demolition, and mine-waste cleanup projects.

The Engineer III will work in our Billings, MT office. This role will be hybrid working in-office three days per week with potential for up to 50% fieldwork or travel required.

Responsibilities / Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

• Developing engineering studies, plans, designs, and specifications for the remediation of environmental contamination.
• Potentially Responsible Party (PRP) oversight.
• Interfacing with program and project managers, senior technical staff, the government customer, and RA Contractors.
• Reporting of observations and compliance with contract documents.
• Review of specifications, drawings, work plans, and ongoing construction activities to assure compliance.
• Drafting project submittals.
• Determining, communicating, and documenting deficiencies to ensure they are corrected in a timely manner.
• Preparation of work plans and project deliverables (e.g., UFP-QAPPs, FSPs, RI / FS Reports, SSHP / HASPs, technical memoranda).
• Understanding of remediation and construction site health & safety (H&S) hazards.
• Potential 50% travel within the U.S. as needed to support projects.

The salary range for this position ranges from $71,868 - $107,801, . This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
