JOB SUMMARY

The Project Controls Engineer is responsible for cost analysis and collecting data required to monitor budgets and estimates for all project phases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Assign job numbers, provide cost breakdown structure, and monitor timesheets and expenditures.

Prepare budget documents based on estimates provided by engineering, fabrication, construction, or operations.

Provide input to project controls

Perform cost reporting tasks such as coding timesheets, invoices, quantity installations, and accumulating hours for a specific account.

Calculate and track scope change.

Prepare material take-offs, comparison reports, charts, and maintain change management log.

Clear, concise, and timely reporting, including hours, budget, change management status, and cost tables for project analysis.

Compile cost data by account, prepare resource allocation forecasts, and reconcile existing cost records.

Compile reports and studies detailing cost reconciliation and historical data on past projects.

Track project cost.

Assist in preparing routine or special request reports related to cost analysis.

Prepare and review reports, analyze and evaluate problems, and provide recommended corrective actions.

Perform additional duties associated with practical application of cost methods.

Serve as customer contact for cost control issues.

Chair project controls internal and client meetings.

Participate in internal and external audits as required.

Prepare final cost report and project analysis.

Provide input to lessons learned.

Ensure project controls documents comply with quality, management and document control policies and procedures.

Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or Construction Management is required.

A valid (U.S issued) Driver’s License is required.

At least two (2) years of experience or training in project management with a working knowledge of project controls principles and practices is required.

A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of client-specific coding / costs objects and work breakdown structure elements is preferred.
