Biocompatibility Intern
We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.
Team Description
The biocompatibility team plays a critical role in supporting the manufacture of Neuralink devices by ensuring product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. We specialize in a range of essential processes, including batch release testing, chemical characterization, general analytical testing (such as mass spectrometry, chromatography, pH / conductivity, and general chemistry), microbiological testing (bioburden, environmental monitoring, and more), material analysis, and in-vitro biocompatibility assays.
Job Description and Responsibilities :
As a Biocompatibility Intern, you will play a critical role in advancing our biocompatibility pipeline by developing and streamlining a state-of-the-art in-vitro biocompatibility assay for medical device extracts. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced R&D environment and contribute to innovative neurotechnology.
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews, including OECD Guidance Documents, to inform assay development.
- Select appropriate positive and negative controls.
- Revise assay development plans to align with international and FDA guidance.
- Establish and maintain mammalian cell cultures
- Design and implement assays which utilize tools like plate readers and confocal microscopes
- Identify appropriate endpoints, ensure reproducibility of results, and test mixtures of compounds.
- Validate developed assays using positive and negative controls, and assess mixed controls to simulate medical device extracts and determine assay limitations.
- Assist with the setup of necessary laboratory equipment, including calibration and qualification, if needed.
