Responsibilities

Thoroughly completes patient intake and rooms the patient, preparing them for examination and treatment

Completes and documents patient intake including, but not limited to reason for visit, medical history, medications, current conditions and vital signs in the EHR

Responsible in selection, setup and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures, including advanced planning and subsequent sterilization afterward

Gives injections, applies splints and dressings, and facilitates simple wound management under APRN or physician orders

Required to draw and collect blood samples and specimens from patients and prepare / transport specimens for laboratory analysis with the highest level of care to ensure no errors and the highest level of patient comfort and care

Responsible for charting on behalf of clinician ensuring information is accurate and documented correctly. May perform these tasks by employing the electronic medical record (EMR) system or by manual means

Appropriately documents new prescriptions and refills

Completes pre-authorizations for medications and procedures as needed

Completes lab and radiology ordering in the system and through the documented workflow to ensure the highest, most efficient coordination of patient care

Inputs and completes all necessary orders for referrals in the EHR and completes the documented workflow to ensure the highest, most efficient coordination of patient care between our clinicians and the specialist

Completes chart checks and schedule reviews in advance to ensure effective, productive scheduling

Provides the highest level of customer service and patient advocacy to patients ensuring they are thoroughly educated and guided through their visit and understand their long-term treatment plan for optimal health and / or ongoing disease management

Coordinates the patient handoff by obtaining all necessary information adhering to the documented workflow for the clinician and then, after the appointment, back from the clinician for appropriate, accurate patient discharge

Responsible for ensuring patient retention and practice financial success by ensuring patients leave with all necessary follow-up appointments and annual physicals scheduled

Maintains a neat and professional work environment

Stocks exam rooms, monitors equipment and maintains the highest cleanliness standards

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Current MA / BLS / CPR certification required

Minimum of one-year experience in a medical office setting as a medical assistant

Phlebotomy experience required minimum of one-year experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

Bachelors Degree; considerable prior coursework or on-the-job training in field of medical assisting

Proficiency in Epic EHR

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Computer skills including data entry and Microsoft suiteOutlook, Word and Excel

Knowledge of electronic health records

Knowledge of supply management

Excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of infection control

Demonstrated ability in creating a safe, effective environment

High level of professionalism, customer-centric focus, confidentiality

Kind and courteous bedside manner

Ability to effectively work with a team and support clinical staff to ensure they are setup for success and that patients have the Perfect Patient Experience

Self-motivated, reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team

Organized, detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to multi-task effectively without compromising the quality of the work
