ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Senior Web Developer at Sportsman’s Guide, you’ll combine your technical expertise with our passion for the great outdoors to create an exceptional online experience for our customers. From designing and developing new features to testing, implementing, and enhancing site functionality, you’ll oversee the full system life cycle to keep our website looking sharp and performing at its best. Reporting to the Director of Web Development, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our digital storefront reflects the quality, adventure, and authenticity that define Sportsman’s Guide. This role is considered hybrid, in the office in Bloomington, MN every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with flexibility on Mondays and Fridays to be remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Perform full system life cycle development of the Company’s web applications in order to build and / or enhance functionality for the Company’s e-Commerce web sites.
• Organize tasks into structured development methodology such as Agile or Waterfall with an ability to interpret, understand and articulate system level diagrams and designs.
• Design and code applications following established specifications identified in the business requirements.
• Plan projects for efforts contained in the Ecommerce team.
• Provide leadership in the design, development, and execution of unit, system, performance, automated regression, and integration testing to ensure that developed code is efficient and scalable.
• Work closely with business partners to understand proposed design solutions and ensure their feasibility. Recommend alternate solutions when identified or required.
• Provide mentoring and leadership to Web Developers and Interns on all aspects of development and testing. Provide oversight of Web Developers’ work to ensure it adheres to best practices and meets quality standards.
• Ensure completed tasks meet deadlines and established standards including the business and audit control requirements and disaster recovery procedures.
• Resolve production problems and develops solutions that prevent reoccurrence.
• Share knowledge of design patterns, current implementations, techniques, tools and other processes informally with the team.
• Keep supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, business project activities, and related information necessary for effective management.
• Coordinate and communicate plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
• Perform related work as apparent or assigned.
