Job Title : Patient Financial Counselor

Location :  Fully onsite in Fresno, CA

Schedule :   Monday-Friday 8 : 00AM-5 : 00PM

Pay : Dependent on years of experience

Job Purpose

The Patient Financial Counselor plays a critical role in ensuring access to medically necessary services by guiding patients through financial counseling, assistance programs, and payment options. This position supports patients in understanding their financial responsibilities and helps secure coverage through various assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute daily financial counseling tasks, including : Running daily schedules for consults and proceduresVerifying benefits (VOB) and preparing cost estimatesCollecting time-of-service paymentsAssisting with financial assistance and Medi-Cal applicationsCoordinating with early-out collections partners for payment plans
• Monitor and collect outstanding patient balances
• Apply for and track financial assistance and patient aid programs
• Maximize financial support for patients based on coverage needs
• Educate patients on insurance literacy and available assistance options
• Conduct outreach campaigns during open enrollment periods
• Initiate and manage charity care applications per policy
• Collaborate with financial counselors, patient navigators, front office, and clinical staff
• Meet monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report to management
