POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Resource Coach provides resources and referral services to employees of employers / members affiliated with the Business Resource Network (BRN). This position addresses key barriers to employment and provides access to other services, including personalized success coaching, mentoring, financial literacy, budgeting, soft-skills training, hard-skills training, and supportive services. The Business Resource Coach is responsible for assisting employees in referrals to community agencies, overcoming barriers, and maintaining employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements steps to recruit BRN members into the program.
Works in collaboration with employer human resources, supervisors, and management to identify BRN
member employees who will benefit from coaching.
Creates and maintains marketing materials to recruit BRN member employees to the program.
Provides participating BRN member employees with coaching (tools and services or referrals to services) that
are intended to enhance job retention and advancement and to overcome barriers to employment.
Meets with BRN member employees according to an agreed-upon schedule. Such meetings may be at the
employers location, at Capital Area Michigan Works!, or virtually.
Develops Individual Service Strategies (ISS) based on the participants needs after conducting needs
assessments and interviews.
Identifies barriers to maintaining employment and assesses appropriateness of training / education.
Provides supportive services needed to overcome barriers as identified on the completed ISS.
Acts as a liaison between the BRN member employer and BRN member employee, as appropriate.
Keeps a current list of emergency assistance and social services available to BRN member employees and
provides information on how to obtain and apply for services.
Establishes and maintains appropriate links to internal and external employee resources.
Creates and updates database and participant files by recording each contact made with BRN member
employees and maintaining records required for follow-up.
Ensures case files are completed and maintained in a timely and accurate manner.
Tracks performance measures.
Meets deadlines and reporting requirements as identified by CAMW! Administration.
Completes and maintains documentation in compliance with federal, state, and local policy.
Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree or at least two-four years of work experience in human resources, business, education,
psychology, or a related social science area is required.
Business Solutions Professional (BSP) Certification and Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF)
Certification are preferred.
Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and / or Google applications, databases, and
websites is required.
Experience using Salesforce.com is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office
equipment.
Physical activity that sometimes requires lifting up to 10 lbs.
Physical activity that sometimes requires travel by car, train, and / or air.
Physical activity that sometimes requires bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and / or twisting.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Must hear, write, and speak English well enough to effectively conduct business over the telephone, computer
or face-to-face.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS
This position requires working indoors most of the time, with some occasional travel outdoors for agency events and meetings. The typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week, with some occasional weekend work during specific times of the year, as well as longer hours when deadlines warrant. This position requires fast-paced work, which can be stressful at times.
