We are hiring an Associate Investigator – Tyvek® Applications Development to join our Spruance site located in Richmond, VA

The Water & Protection business is part of DuPont and is a global leader in products and solutions that protect what matters – people, structures, and the environment. We enable our customers to win through unique capabilities, global scale, and iconic brands including Corian®, Kevlar®, Nomex®, Tyvek®, Styrofoam™, and FILMTEC™.

To aid in the continuous development of Tyvek® applications, we are seeking a Technologist with a passion for innovation to support the TS&D team. This individual will be vital in the physical property testing support of the Tyvek® Medical Packaging and C&I segments.

This hiring initiative represents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamically empowered R&D team that applies a rich understanding of materials, polymer science, chemistry, chemical and mechanical engineering in a diverse environment.

Your Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct experiments, to completion, according to specific procedures, exercising independent judgment and discretion as appropriate.
  • Prepare physical samples and conduct routine testing needed to support the laboratories and different end-use applications.
  • Maintains, organizes, and summarizes results of experiments including notebook entries, regulatory documentation, data analysis, technical reports, etc.
  • Maintaining chemical and sample inventory, coordinating outside laboratory testing including shipping samples following DOT requirements, and guidelines for import / export.
  • Inspects, uses, and maintains research equipment including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Implement refinements in evolving technologies, equipment, and methodologies.
  • Writes and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and safety documentation.
  • Work safely with hazardous chemicals and solvents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as math and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills using PC-based applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to work as a team member with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to understand specialized or technical areas (i.e., chemistry, biology, engineering).
  • Demonstrated competency in planning projects, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing Technology and Operations to support testing for Management of Change procedures.
  • Collaborates locally and globally with larger cross-functional teams to coordinate sample shipping, align equipment and methodologies, and generate report data and analyses.

Qualifications :

  • BS in Material Science, Engineering or Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Several years of practical experience in a Material Science laboratory or manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in laboratory method development, method validation and statistical analysis.
