Summary
This position is for an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator. The roles and responsibilities for this position include providing leadership and guidance for our Safety Programs. The ideal candidate will be experienced in developing, implementing, and improving the health and safety programs across all sites within the United States, including all policies, procedures, and training programs. This position requires experience dealing with multiple sites across the country ranging from large warehouses to office environments. This candidate should have an excellent working knowledge of OSHA requirements to ensure continued compliance, ensure effective coordination of safety investigations, and be able to report those incidents and their resolutions to leadership. Ability to see projects and safety initiatives from creation to implementation is important.
Job Description
- Provide assistance to EHS leadership in proposing and implementing new safety initiatives and monitoring their success and compliance.
- Ability to develop, implement, and initiate EHS programs across multiple sites and manage the effectiveness.
- Ensure continued compliance with all OSHA requirements and a good working knowledge of those standards in all types of workplaces, from warehouse environments to offices.
- Establish training programs needed to ensure safe workplaces as well as establish a volunteer emergency coordinator program throughout the system to help with evacuations and safety.
- Establish and oversee various safety programs such as hot work, hazardous material or chemicals, respirator programs, ventilation, and construction projects as well as the handling of OSHA reportable accidents and injuries.
- Establish a volunteer emergency coordinator program throughout the system to help with evacuations and safety and meet required deadlines for completion.
- Familiarity with OSHA reporting, and handling of employee injuries and investigations is needed
Requirements
Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited institution, with degree preferred in Occupational or Environmental Health and Safety, or a related technical discipline / Work experience may be substituted for alternate degree trackMinimum of 5 years experience in environmental health and safety and oversight of programs and personnelEHS Professional Certifications strongly preferred (CSP, CIH, CEM, etc.) or being pursuedStrong communications, training, and leadership skills desiredDual language ability is preferredAbility to communicate technical issues or complex regulatory issues effectively to leadershipExcellent track record of developing safety programs that have successful long term effectivenessSome travel required to conduct assessments at sites across the United States (about 25%)
