This position is essential for treating patients according to physician orders and departmental policies. You will work autonomously in acute and critical care settings, consulting with physicians and making treatment recommendations as necessary. Accountabilities
Supervisory / Management Responsibility
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Graduate from a Respiratory Therapy school accredited by the American Medical Association or a similar authority. Alternatively, must be eligible for licensure in South Carolina or be a senior student graduating within three months.
Required Certifications / Registrations / Licenses
Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in South Carolina or eligible for licensure. BLS certification is required. NBRC credentials must be maintained. Candidates hired before June 2016 may be a Certified Respiratory Therapist. Individuals hired after June 2016 must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam at the Registered Therapist cut score and take the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation. Failure to pass the simulation exam may result in termination.
NRP and PALS certifications are required before working independently in the NICU and PICU.
Other Required Skills and Experience
Ability to work effectively within a team environment. Strong communication, computer, and organizational skills are a must.
