The Information Technology Technician II is responsible for technology help desk service and assistance to users by maintaining and repairing computer equipment, peripherals; installation and configuration of related software, installing computer communications wiring, and low-level training to users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB SPECIFICATIONS :
Researches, obtains price quotations, and makes recommendations for the procurement of computer hardware and peripherals.Works with Application Specialist to obtain software licenses and maintain centralized desktop inventory.Installs, configures, and upgrades operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments.Installs, assembles, configures and operates computers, monitors, infrastructure and peripherals such as printers / copiers, scanners, telephones and related working hardware knowledge, such as audio visual systems and point of sale (POS) systems.Installs network cable runs, indoors / outdoors and terminates network connections.Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, (POS) point of sale systems e-mail, network, and peripheral equipment problems; telephones (VoIP), makes repairs and corrections where required.Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; staffs a centralized help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies outsource providers as required.Assists in instruction of City staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, presentation, email; provides instruction verbal or written and may write documentation where required.Maintain Active Directory accounts for City users.Supports telework and VPN accounts by creating new accounts, troubleshooting connections, and resetting passwords.Maintain enterprise applications software (cloud and on prem) used by departments, such as ERP, timeclock management software, and MS365.Configure and maintain mobile devices including cellular phones, laptops, and tablets.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION :
Requires bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Requires a minimum of two (2) years of progressive work-related experience.SPECIAL CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES :
Valid Texas Driver’s License.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT :
Perform sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
