Job Title : Engineer, R&D Packaging
Contract : 12 months (with potential for extension)

About the Role
We are seeking a talented Engineer, R&D Packaging to join our Sustaining Packaging team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of packaging components, artwork, and labeling for sterile and non-sterile medical devices. Youll collaborate cross-functionally with teams across quality, manufacturing, regulatory, R&D, and supply chain to ensure innovative, compliant, and customer-focused packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and sustain best-in-class packaging and labeling solutions from early concept through commercialization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating Voice of the Customer feedback and industry best practices.
- Develop packaging and labeling components that enhance the customer experience, including 3D modeling and artwork development.
- Apply product development lifecycle knowledge to deliver high-quality outputs.
- Collaborate effectively with global teams across multiple functions to ensure project success.
- Embed Quality into all aspects of product development and maintain compliance with evolving global regulatory requirements.
- Support audits, non-conformances, and CAPAs as required.
- Lead small-scale packaging / labeling projects or co-manage larger programs impacting the product portfolio.
- Mentor or supervise technical staff as needed.
- Manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality results within tight timelines.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Packaging, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.Minimum of 2 years of experience in a highly regulated industry.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in medical device, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical packaging design and development.Proven ability to resolve design and process-related packaging issues in commercial products.Working knowledge of Design Controls and industry standards for Packaging Design and Testing (e.g., ISO 11607, ASTM, ISTA).Familiarity with database-driven labeling systems and development of labels and Instructions for Use (IFUs).
