Description
Erie Neighborhood House a progressive social service agency serving the Chicago metropolitan area and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society is seeking a 30 hour a week part-time Program Assistant for Community Literacy Program. Work time is Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5pm. This job requires a flexible schedule with some evening hours.
Position Responsibilities :
- Assist in matching volunteer tutors with adult learners based on their schedules
- Work collaboratively with other site programs and staff.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- In coordination with volunteer tutors and staff compile and submit weekly attendance and syllabi in required databases.
- In coordination with volunteer tutors and staff submit all intake workforce testing and student goals information in required databases.
- Ensure volunteer tutors follow up with students with poor attendance on a weekly basis assist with calls when necessary.
- Work with Transition Specialist on dismals and reenrollment of students within the fiscal year.
- Assist the Program Coordinator with planning and implementing registration and testing.
- Manage the waitlist for tutoring sessions to ensure maximum enrollment with support of the Receptionist.
- Participate in regular Erie Neighborhood House staff meetings curriculum meetings and events
Qualifications
A Bachelors Degree in Education or related field preferred and a minimum of two years experience working with ESL students preferred.Ability to work well with a diverse group of adult learners collaborate with the teaching team and volunteer tutors and perform program administrative duties.Commitment to social justice and sensitivity to the assets and challenges of a diverse group of adult learners.English / Spanish proficiency requiredTEAM MEMBER BENEFITS :
