Assistant Community Manager – Antelope Valley, Lancaster, CA
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Community Manager to support the operations at Antelope Valley, a 120-unit tax credit and project-based apartment community in Lancaster, CA. This role includes assisting with leasing activities, resident relations, and rent collection, while ensuring compliance with property policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager will also handle administrative tasks, coordinate maintenance requests, and help maintain a high level of satisfaction among residents and prospective tenants. This position requires strong organizational skills to support the property management team and foster a positive community environment.
Base pay and benefits
- Base pay range : $49,920.00 / yr - $58,240.00 / yr
- Base Salary : $24.00 - $28.00 hourly, depending on qualifications, education, and prior experience
- Schedule : Monday - Friday; 8am - 5pm

Key Responsibilities
Oversee the application process for new move-ins and recertifications within established regulatory guidelinesAssist with lease renewals, waitlist management, and move-in / move-out procedures in accordance with affordable housing guidelinesWork with the Community Manager to ensure maintenance requests, vendor contracts, and operational tasks are handled efficientlyMarket vacant units in accordance with the approved marketing planRespond to resident concerns, requests, and complaints with professionalism and respectMaintain professionalism, integrity, and respect in interactions with residents, team members, vendors, and community stakeholdersOversee rent collection and other monies, review delinquent accounts and receivablesAttend meetings, professional activities, and regulatory agency inspections as requiredWalk the property daily to ensure common areas are in good conditionPerform annual or more frequent inspections of units and follow-upsQualifications & Requirements
1+ years of experience in affordable housing property management, including knowledge of Tax Credit and Section 8Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with residents and collaborate with team membersExceptional time management and problem-solving skillsAbility to handle conflict resolution, complaints, and deliver high levels of customer serviceExperience with rent collection and delinquency managementAbility to identify areas for improvement and suggest efficiency, productivity, and profitability enhancementsExcellent customer service, including responsiveness to tenant needs and community engagementAbility to interact with tenants, contractors, and local authoritiesMarketing and sales skills to promote vacancies and maintain high occupancyProficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, CRM, Blue Moon, Rent Café, Vendor Café, Client Central)Must have a valid driver’s licenseNice to have
