About the Role

The Company is in search of a Head of Liability Accounting to join their team. The successful candidate will be a senior finance leader with a focus on the liability side of the balance sheet, responsible for shaping accounting strategy, policy, and reporting. This role involves leading the accounting for insurance liabilities, reserves, and complex balance sheet items in accordance with U.S. GAAP and statutory standards. The Head of Liability Accounting will also be tasked with developing and maintaining liability accounting policies to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory requirements, providing technical analysis on various financial transactions, and serving as a subject matter expert to advise internal teams on best practices. Applicants for this role at The Company should have a minimum of 10 years' experience in GAAP and statutory insurance accounting, with a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a CPA highly preferred. The role requires strong experience in business combinations, reinsurance accounting, and technical accounting research, as well as exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills. The ideal candidate will be analytical, proactive, and capable of challenging assumptions with well-reasoned recommendations. Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools is also necessary. The position is remote, and candidates must reside in the USA or have full working rights.
