Journeyman Electrician (Power Generation) – Northern Michigan
6-month contract | Potential to go permanent | On-site
Spencer Ogden is supporting a leading renewable power generation facility in Northern Michigan that is looking to bring on a Journeyman Electrician to strengthen their on-site electrical & I&C team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industrial electrician who wants long-term stability, hands-on field work, and a chance to support a critical power asset in the region.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and control systems across the facility
- Perform preventative maintenance on motors, switchgear, breakers, conduits, and high-voltage systems (277V, 480V, 4160V)
- Support emissions equipment, stack gas testing, and plant instrumentation
- Assist during plant upsets / trips and read / interpret complex electrical and logic diagrams
- Calibrate and repair instrumentation, emission monitoring equipment, and PLC-related components
- Maintain accurate documentation of electrical modifications and work performed
- Ensure safe work practices including LOTO, job planning, and adherence to site safety standards
- Work both independently and with a small team; oversee contractors during seasonal outages
What We’re Looking For
Journeyman Electrician or equivalent experience in industrial / power environments4+ years of electrical experience, ideally within a power plant, biomass, industrial, or utility settingStrong high-voltage experience (277V, 480V, 4160V)Knowledge of instrumentation & controls, emissions systems, PLC basics, and rotating equipmentAbility to read / interpret electrical, electronic, and logic diagramsExperience with Megger testing, motor wiring, and preventative maintenance programsLOTO experience requiredStrong communication skills and ability to work safely with limited supervisionActive state journeyman license preferred (Michigan or transferable)Schedule & Details
