API Security Engineer

Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented API Security Engineer to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable API architectures. In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding our API ecosystem from potential threats by developing and enforcing security protocols, performing vulnerability assessments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure integration and data exchange. This position plays a critical role in protecting sensitive data, maintaining compliance, and supporting the integrity of our digital services. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in cybersecurity, API development, and cloud-based infrastructure.

• Design, implement, and maintain robust API security policies and practices across the organization.
• Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and vulnerability analysis specific to APIs.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure secure coding practices for API development and integration.
• Monitor and respond to API-related security incidents, anomalies, and breaches.
• Develop and enforce authentication, authorization, and encryption strategies for internal and external APIs.
• Perform regular security testing (including penetration testing) of APIs and associated systems.
• Implement API gateway solutions and configure security features such as rate limiting, throttling, and IP filtering.
• Maintain documentation of API security controls, protocols, and compliance measures.
• Stay up to date with emerging threats, technologies, and best practices in API and application security.
• Provide training and guidance to developers and IT staff on API security best practices.
• Assist with compliance requirements such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR as they relate to API data handling.
