Project Description :

DRT provides GIS solutions to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems within the public health domains of environmental health, infectious disease, chronic disease, and emergency preparedness / response. Our support includes the design, development, and enhancements of internal and external applications, websites, and database solutions with geospatial components. Our team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques in the field to enhance emergency response efforts all around the world.

Job Summary :

The Data Scientist role will provide data quality analysis for the United States Cancer Statistics (USCS) and National Program of Cancer Registry (NPCR) databases to ensure integrity and find inadequacies and inconsistencies of variables within databases.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to understand distributions, trends, and relationships of USCS and NPCR data.
  • Apply epidemiological methods to analyze NPCR’s 12-month cancer registry data for quality control analysis.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for many of the National Program of Cancer Registry operational tasks
  • Review and edit USCS technical publications
  • Research, develop, plan, and initiate epidemiological and analytical research projects
  • Prepare and publish original scientific research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Review manuscripts for The Journal of Registry Management

Require Experience :

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
  • At least four years of experience supporting public health projects
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be well-organized, proactive, and works well in a team-setting
  • Preferred Experience :

  • Experience working at CDC
  • Education & Training :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, public health, GIS, or related field; Master's of Public Health preferred
  • Salary Range :

  • 60,000-$80,000
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
