Job Summary
Memorial Hermann TMC Blood Bank is on the lookout for a Lead Blood Bank Medical Technologist. The ideal candidate must hold an ASCP or AMT certification. While SBB certification is advantageous, it is not mandatory. We are searching for a candidate experienced in managing laboratory operations within a large academic health system. This role entails overseeing daily laboratory functions, including staff scheduling, ensuring quality standards, cost-efficiency, and patient satisfaction. You will be the representative of the laboratory during the absence of the manager and are responsible for delivering appropriate patient care according to the specific needs of the patient population.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science (equivalent qualifications evaluated on a case-by-case basis for foreign education).
- Licenses / Certifications : ASCP or AMT Certified Medical Technologist, CLS (ASCP or ASCP-International), or MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory in the specified area, demonstrating leadership capabilities.Completed competency in the assigned area within one (1) year of accepting this position.Principal Accountabilities
Oversee, evaluate, perform, and document test results and quality control according to established policies; maintain and enhance technical procedures relevant to the laboratory.Support customer service initiatives, build effective relationships with colleagues and clients, and address customer satisfaction issues proactively.Possess a strong understanding of quality processes, techniques, and principles; contribute to performance improvement initiatives, serving on relevant quality teams.Act as a resource for staff, utilizing advanced knowledge in analytical techniques and laboratory processes.Assist in developing and validating laboratory tests; verify test results, resolve technical issues, and collaborate with other departments on process-related concerns.Commit to promoting quality patient care and customer satisfaction while optimizing safety and cost-efficiency.Participate in the hiring process and contribute to employee performance assessments; engage in training and orienting new staff members.Adhere to regulations set by various governmental and accrediting agencies and assist in ensuring compliance with these standards.Promote safety for patients, staff, and visitors while managing resources effectively, maintaining productivity and quality service.Encourage personal and professional development through continued education and by serving as a mentor to junior staff.Demonstrate a commitment to compassionate, personalized service in line with Memorial Hermann's standards.Other duties as assigned.
