This job involves system design, troubleshooting, programming, and installations under the supervision of the service manager. The technician will optimize, maintain, and repair 2-way and wireless communication systems, including complex radio systems and 911 communication centers for customers.
Essential Functions :
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve wireless communication equipment issues in person, by phone, email, or at the shop.
- Perform diagnostic tests to repair wireless communication equipment such as dispatch consoles and trunked radio systems.
- Analyze test results to repair and program radios and wireless equipment.
- Coordinate with customers to meet deadlines and schedule repairs, maintenance, and programming.
- Prepare quotes and bids.
- Act as the shop’s safety coordinator, collaborating on safety training and implementation.
- Perform system programming and installation of radio and wireless systems per industry and vendor standards.
- Report accidents, maintenance needs, or repairs, and practice safe driving procedures.
- Work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with on-call duties including overtime and travel as needed.
Education and Experience :
3-5 years of experience in 2-way radio and wireless communication systems.Associate degree or equivalent preferred but not required.Experience with diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and programming of wireless communication equipment.Knowledge of dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, trunked radio systems, and RF theory.Licenses and Certifications :
Industry license (FCC, FICA, or NARTE).Valid driver’s license and insurability.CET or NABER certification.Additional Details :
