This job involves system design, troubleshooting, programming, and installations under the supervision of the service manager. The technician will optimize, maintain, and repair 2-way and wireless communication systems, including complex radio systems and 911 communication centers for customers.

Essential Functions :

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve wireless communication equipment issues in person, by phone, email, or at the shop.
  • Perform diagnostic tests to repair wireless communication equipment such as dispatch consoles and trunked radio systems.
  • Analyze test results to repair and program radios and wireless equipment.
  • Coordinate with customers to meet deadlines and schedule repairs, maintenance, and programming.
  • Prepare quotes and bids.
  • Act as the shop’s safety coordinator, collaborating on safety training and implementation.
  • Perform system programming and installation of radio and wireless systems per industry and vendor standards.
  • Report accidents, maintenance needs, or repairs, and practice safe driving procedures.
  • Work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with on-call duties including overtime and travel as needed.

Education and Experience :

  • 3-5 years of experience in 2-way radio and wireless communication systems.
  • Associate degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Experience with diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and programming of wireless communication equipment.
  • Knowledge of dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, trunked radio systems, and RF theory.

    • Licenses and Certifications :

  • Industry license (FCC, FICA, or NARTE).
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability.
  • CET or NABER certification.
