Young Adult Librarian (25-32 Hours), Beaman Memorial Public Library (West Boylston)

The Beaman Memorial Public Library is currently accepting applications for a part-time Young Adult Librarian. This highly technical and creative position is responsible for collection development and programming for teens ages 13-18, and shares responsibility for the Library’s marketing efforts, including the website, newsletter, and social media. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on teen services and library communications, while working collaboratively with a small, supportive team.

Starting range for new hires is $21.98–$24.88 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The full range for this position is $21.98–$28.89 per hour, based on a twelve-step wage scale. This position is eligible for benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, and participation in the Worcester Regional Retirement System.

SCHEDULE

This position is 25-32 hours per week, including regular evening and Saturday hours on a rotating basis, and occasional fill-in coverage as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide library services and reader’s advisory to Young Adult patrons.
  • Manage and maintain the Young Adult collection.
  • Plan, promote, and host teen programs and events.
  • Coordinate the teen volunteer program.
  • Create and distribute the Library’s print and electronic newsletters.
  • Maintain and update website content.
  • Develop marketing materials and promote library programs and services.
  • Maintain and grow the Library’s social media presence.
  • Provide circulation, reference, and basic technology assistance to patrons of all ages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1-3 years of experience in a library setting or working with Young Adults
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technology skills
  • Comfort with teens, creativity in programming, and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to pass a CORI background check
