Job Title : Medical Coder (ED Charge Capture Specialist)

Location : 100% Remote

Estimated Length of Assignment : 2+ Months

Est. Pay Range (hourly) : $40.00 - $46.00 hourly

Job Description : Duties :

Charge Capture Specialist ED (Emergency Department) assigns charges for all ED encounters. This position facilitates and captures appropriate charges in accordance with policies, procedures, documentation standards, and regulations. They ensure documentation supports the charge assigned and reflects the volume and intensity of resources utilized by the facility.

  • Accurately assign facility E&M level, procedures, injections / infusions, and modifiers from the medical record utilizing appropriate definitions.
  • Ensure that the clinical documentation supports the charges assigned.
  • Apply internal, compliance, and regulatory guidelines to identify and appropriately charge for all facility interventions and services. Physical Requirements :
  • Ongoing need for caregiver to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with customers require caregivers to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.

Note : ED Charge Coder - No profee, remote, 8-weeks, M-F Productivity : 20 per hour

Education :

  • Coding certification through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and / or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) e.G., Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician (RHIA OR RHIT), Certified Coding Associate (CCA) is required.
  • Demonstrated work experience will be considered in lieu of certification.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare related field, preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC, 3M, TEAMS, and Excel, required. - no profee
