- As part of the Forensic Integrated Sampling Unit your role is to help achieve the functions of the unit in a timely manner.
As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include :
Under direction and supervision conduct the examination and analysis of exhibits using defined methods and procedures.Maintain equipment, instruments, laboratory space and document performance with respect to quality control criteria.Participate in technical support services as required.Participate in activities required to maintain accreditation and meet obligations as required.Provide recommendations to management on administrative procedures as appropriate.Provide general administrative assistance, respond to customer enquiries, maintain computerised records and compile statistical reports.As part of a team, and under direction, assist in relevant research projects that help improve and expand scientific methodologies.Present evidence in Courts of law of a factual nature, in an impartial and concise manner as required.Prioritise casework and provide statistics to management.Maintain appropriate knowledge of Victoria Police and Department policies, procedures and legislation.Generating reports in relation to evidence recovery examinations.Attending and assisting at secondary locations under direction and supervision to recover exhibits and samples where required.Skills & Experience
As the successful applicant, you will have :
Ability to undertake scientific / technical examinations following established procedures.Experience with the operation and maintenance of relevant scientific instrumentation.Proven administrative skills including the maintenance of detailed and accurate records.Well-developed oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to impart specialist knowledge and advice to internal and external stakeholders.Ability to work autonomously and / or in a team environment and to manage workloads in order to meet defined / agreed targets and deadlines.Prepare reports and provide results on technical matters relevant to own work area.An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values.Requirements and relevant information :
Ongoing FO-2 position available.Salary Range $74,003 - $81,703.Commencing salary will be at base of salary range.Position is located at 31 Forensic Drive, Macleod, Victoria.A relevant tertiary qualification would be desirable.The successful candidate will be required to provide a DNA sample (buccal swab) for use in laboratory quality control procedures (elimination purposes only).The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.The position may require the incumbent to work outside the ordinary hours (Shift work / Overtime / On call).Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.How to apply
