A grocery store receiver is responsible for accepting, inspecting, and organizing incoming deliveries, ensuring products match orders and meet quality standards. Key duties include unloading shipments, verifying quantities against invoices, inspecting for damage, inputting data, and properly storing items to maintain freshness and stock rotation. This role requires attention to detail, safe food handling practices, and the ability to perform physical tasks like lifting and moving goods.
Core Responsibilities
- Receiving and Verifying : Accept and check deliveries against purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy in product and quantity.
- Inspection : Examine all products for damage or defects before accepting them.
- Data Entry : Input receiving information into the store's system and complete necessary paperwork accurately.
- Storage : Move and store received items in their designated areas, such as refrigerators, freezers, or back-stock rooms.
- Stock Management : Practice stock rotation to keep products fresh and ensure older items are used first.
- Safety and Sanitation : Maintain a clean, safe, and secure receiving area and follow all safe food handling procedures.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.Stand and walk for extended periods.Perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.Skills and Qualifications
