Position Summary
This is a temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) position through the end of the 2025 / 2026 school year. The above salary references a 1.0 FTE salary for the full school year. Anticipated daily schedule : Monday through Friday 8-4.
The School-Based Mental Health Therapist works under the direction of Prevention Services and Mental Health Administrator. The Therapist's primary role is to provide linguistically and culturally attuned Tier 2A, targeted mental health services to students in accordance with Eugene 4J's Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Mental Health Model. Therapist's focus includes furnishing short duration, one-on-one and small group interventions to those in need of emotional, social, behavioral, or relational support. Therapists make referrals to community partners for students requiring higher levels of care (Tier 2B and 3), coordinate student mental health / substance use services with local mental health agencies, refer caregivers and families to external resources, and address barriers to accessing equitable care. Therapists collaborate with school administrators and staff in the implementation of school-wide and group-level prevention activities including professional development for school staff, parents, and school volunteers to increase mental health literacy and skills. They are key partners in interdisciplinary student intervention teams, suicide evaluations, behavioral safety assessments, support / safety plans, and student re-entry plans. Therapists support critical incident response as assigned. Therapists practice in compliance with federal and state law, school district policies and administrative regulations.

Four (4) years providing direct psychological interventions in a Mental Health setting Up to two (2) years of graduate professional education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year for-year basis.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required clinical knowledge and skill may be considered qualifying as determined by Human Resources.
