POSITION SUMMARY
Working as part of the Product Development team, the Product Development Formulator develops best-in-class nutritional supplements in various delivery formats (capsules, soft gels, liquids, powders, gummies and / or nutrition bars) for launch in the US and international markets with an emphasis in the professional category.

Essential Function Statement(s)
Collaborate with the PD Team to develop new best-in-class nutritional supplements and renovate existing formulas as deemed necessary
Research and identify optimal ingredients for new formulations
Support current raw material sourcing and secondary sourcing with technical material review and evaluation
Maintain working knowledge of new and innovative products and industry trends
Conduct early stage evaluation of raw materials and potential formulation options to determine feasibility and identify solutions to work through challenges to ensure timely shipment
Work with contract manufacturers, develop blends, obtain and negotiate price quotes, and project manage the manufacturing process for timely delivery
Develop and maintain working relationships with key vendors to maximize ongoing and future project success
Check and approve of documents such as Ingredient and Finished Goods Specifications, Master Formulas, Product Label, and Nutritional Information
Interface with internal departments including purchasing, manufacturing, quality assurance / quality control, sales and customer service as required
Keep up to date on regulatory, innovative and industry wide changes
Work cross-functionally to troubleshoot technical, formulation, and processing issues during new product development

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
BS in food science, chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical engineering, or related field required.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in dietary supplement (capsules, soft gels, liquids, powders, gummies, and / or nutrition bars) preferred or related field.
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as standard operating procedures, and regulations.
Must be able to work cross functionally with many different departments and various skill levels.
Knowledge of Food & Supplement regulations (including DSHEA, FD&C Act Section 21 CFR 111) is preferred.
Ability to objectively review the primary and secondary scientific literature to help support ingredient or product efficacy and safety is preferred.
Ability to deal with complex problems with many variables.
Basic skills in math, including algebra are required.

Must be proficient with MS Office and have advanced Excel skills.
Pay, Benefits & Perks :
The estimated annual pay for this role is $90,000 to $105,000. This pay is an estimate and the exact compensation may vary depending on an applicant's location, skills, prior experience, professional qualifications, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may also include incentive compensation (i.e. bonus or commission) if applicable.
