Engineering Technician I (GIS) is entry level in the technical series. Works under supervision performing routine technical duties maintaining and supporting City GIS and GIS databases; uses standard GIS tools and generates standard GIS products. Focus on GIS data creation and maintenance to support City-wide GIS capabilities. Incumbents use basic GIS software to enter and verify data, research source documents, and generate standard GIS products including maps. Tasks follow specific detailed instructions. Education and Experience : Equivalent to graduation from high school with algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; one to two years of experience in civil engineering / drafting / surveying or customer service / permitting. Vocational training in drafting / CAD is desirable. License : valid driver's license. Ideal Candidate
Experience with ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro. Knowledge of GIS principles, cartography, and database management. Attention to detail in record keeping. Ability to organize and maintain files and records. Strong computer / tech skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Initiative and resourcefulness. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities. Application Information
