Job Summary
We are seeking a Lead Blood Bank Medical Technologist to join our team. Certification from ASCP or AMT is required. While SBB certification is preferred, it is not mandatory. Experience in a large academic health system is advantageous. This position entails daily supervision of laboratory operations, including staff scheduling and process management, while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and patient satisfaction. You will also represent the laboratory in the absence of the Manager, providing appropriate patient care based on demographics.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science (Equivalency Required for Foreign Education)
- Licenses / Certifications : Medical Technologist (ASCP or AMT), Certified CLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) or Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory with demonstrated leadership abilities.Completion of competency requirements in your area of expertise within one (1) year of starting in this position.Principal Accountabilities
Oversee, evaluate, and document test results while ensuring quality control and maintenance procedures are adhered to, as per policy.Foster effective customer service initiatives and relationships to enhance patient satisfaction.Utilize knowledge of quality processes to drive performance improvement initiatives.Serve as a technical resource for staff, applying advanced knowledge of laboratory processes.Facilitate the development and validation of laboratory tests and act as a technical liaison with physicians.Commit to promoting quality patient care and service efficiency, adhering to budgetary guidelines.Participate in staff training and orientation, ensuring new employees are competent in their roles.Comply with policies and standards established by regulatory agencies such as TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, and OSHA.Ensure safe care for patients and staff, adhering to Memorial Hermann’s policies and standards.Encourage professional growth through continuing education and mentorship of less experienced staff.Demonstrate a commitment to creating compassionate and personalized experiences for all community members.Undertake other duties as required.
