About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Technical Specialist, you will collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop and document aerospace hardware that meets stringent technical, cost, and schedule requirements. This role demands hands-on CAD expertise, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic, on-site environment.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed mechanical designs using 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks required).
- Generate engineering drawings in compliance with ASME standards (Y14.100, Y14.3, Y14.5).
- Manage design documentation including drawings, BOMs, and 3D fabrication files within PDM systems.
- Prepare and release Engineering Orders (EOs) and revisions.
- Participate in design reviews, customer meetings, and production planning.
- Support hardware receiving, integration, testing, and certification processes.
- Maintain consistent on-site presence and collaborate across departments and business units.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a two-year technical degree with 2+ years of experience.Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical CAD modeling / drafting.Familiarity with GD&T and ASME drawing standards.Experience with configuration management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong organizational and multitasking skills.Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in both in-person and virtual environments.Experience in 3D printing and design for manufacturability is preferred.Work Environment
Regular on-site work required (5 days / week).May involve work in office, lab, production floor, cleanroom, or outdoor settings.Occasional travel between company campuses or external locations.Use of protective equipment may be required in certain areas.
