As a Charge Nurse you play a key leadership role in promoting a safe healing environment and supporting growth and excellence among your nursing team. You will guide clinical workflow coordinate patient care and serve as a resource to ensure high-quality outcomes for those we serve.

Position Summary

The Charge Nurse Medical-Surgical provides clinical leadership and direct patient care within the Medical-Surgical Rehabilitation unit. This role oversees shift coordination patient assignments workflow and unit operations. The Charge Nurse supports and guides the nursing team fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and upholds patient safety and quality care standards.

Reports To : Nurse Manager / Department Director

Essential Functions

• Oversees staffing assignments patient prioritization and coordination of care throughout the shift.
• Provides direct clinical care using the nursing process in accordance with scope of practice and hospital policy.
• Serves as a clinical mentor resource and support to RNs LPNs CNAs and techs.
• Performs patient rounding to assess needs progress and risk factors.
• Facilitates admissions discharges and patient flow for timely and safe transitions.
• Responds quickly to patient condition changes and leads emergency response interventions.
• Ensures adherence to infection prevention patient safety and regulatory standards .
• Promotes a collaborative respectful and supportive team culture.
• Documents assessments interventions and outcomes accurately in the EMR.
