The Tennessee / Georgia market is composed of three hospitals CHI Memorial Chattanooga CHI Memorial Hixson and CHI Memorial North Georgia. The market has 348 Advanced Practice Providers of which 172 are employed and 706 physicians of which 196 are employed. CHI Memorial Hospital Chattanooga is licensed for 357 beds and is a tertiary referral center. CHI Memorial Hixson is licensed for 74 beds and CHI Memorial Georgia is licensed for 64 beds. The Tennessee / Georgia market is part of the CommonSpirit South region which is composed of 40 acute care facilities serving 7 distinct markets across 6 states. Ambulatory assets include ambulatory surgery centers imaging centers urgent care facilities and over 350 medical clinics. CommonSpirit spans 24 states and includes over 2200 care sites over 35000 providers and over 45000 nurses.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Tennessee / Georgia Market Chief Medical Officer (MCMO) for the Tennessee and Georgia market is a senior level leadership position with important market responsibilities that align with market region and national priorities. The MCMOs primary responsibilities are at both the hospital(s) and the market level. The individual reports directly to the Tennessee / Georgia Market President with matrix reporting to the Hospital Presidents and the South Region Chief Medical Officer (RCMO).
The MCMO has a dyad relationship with Market Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and together they are accountable to the Hospital Presidents Market President Region Chief Medical Officer and Region Chief Nursing Officer to lead clinical care delivery across the CHI Memorial market and its hospitals. The MCMO has a partnership relationship with the Market Physician Enterprise President to lead key clinical service lines across the CHI Memorial market.
Market
The Market Chief Medical Officer is a key Executive Market team member partnering to develop and implement market operating plans and market growth plans inclusive of strategy operations and care delivery. The market Chief Medical Officer builds and develops leadership teams resulting in ownership and accountability that results in rapid implementation of clinical best practices reduces unnecessary care variation and drives improvement in the quality of care the efficiency of care and the cost of care at all market hospitals. Additional market accountabilities as the MCMO include patient safety patient experience physician engagement physician recruitment and medical staff affairs. A key function of the MCMO is to drive alignment and accountability across local hospitals service lines and providers in the market and to align with regional and national priorities.
Hospital
The Hospital Chief Medical Officer is a key Executive Hospital team member partnering to develop and implement hospital operating plans and hospital growth plans inclusive of strategy operations and care delivery. The Hospital CMO will lead the hospitals continuing emphasis on highvalue safe patient care through oversight of all aspects of physician performance quality and clinical integration. Specifically responsible to provide the clinical operational strategic and cultural leadership necessary to deliver care that is highvalue (cost quality and patient experience) across the continuum of care. Will achieve this through the implementation of key strategic and operational initiatives that move the organization through work that involves maximizing clinical operations improving clinician alignment and satisfaction and leading evidence-based programs practices and activities. Effectiveness of the position will be reflected in outcome measures expressed in measures of quality of care patient safety improved efficiency patient satisfaction and financial performance.

Job Requirements
M INIMUM Q UALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
MD or DO with 5 or more years of medical practice
Advanced degree in business medical or healthcare management
5 or more years of HCMO experience or a comparable formal senior leadership role
Required Licensure and Certifications
Required Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilities and Training
Active medical license
Board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS) specialty
Outstanding communication and change management skills ability to influence physicians and leaders and demonstrable humankindness
