Job Description Summary

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement - Student Organization and Engagement Initiatives supports the mission and vision of the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) by developing programs, systems, and initiatives that help Wake Forest students explore involvement opportunities, build community, and develop a sense of belonging. This position works closely with registered and affiliate student organizations, oversees major campus-wide engagement initiatives, and provides direct support for new and existing student organizations.

Job Description

Essential Functions :

Coordinate oversight of the student organization engagement and compliance processes, including policy development, registration, annual training programs, and event planning support.

Advise and coordinate the student organization chartering process in conjunction with the Student Organizations Council to support the development, and onboarding of new and existing student organizations.

Coordinate various student organization involvement events and initiatives, such as the biannual Student Involvement Fairs, the Interest Matcher Programs, and New Deac Week Involvement and Engagement sessions.

Serve as an event advisor for student organizations engaging in the OSE event planning process, providing expert guidance to students on logistics, policy, and risk mitigation.

Lead the coordination, development, and assessment of OSE's comprehensive student organization training initiatives, such as the Student Leader Kickoff and the Student Organization Workshop Series, ensuring that programs effectively build critical skills in leadership, governance, and compliance for student leaders and advisors.

Assist in coordinating student organization outreach and participation with the Collective Impact Coalition prevention and wellbeing initiatives.

Oversee the Link Loot initiative and associated incentive programs that encourage sustained engagement in campus events and student life.

Collect, analyze, and report student engagement data through learning outcome-based assessments and strategic storytelling.

Other Functions :

Serve on departmental, divisional, and university committees that support student engagement and first-year experience.

Participate in departmental planning and professional development opportunities.

Collaborate with campus partners to ensure student involvement opportunities are accessible, equitable, and inclusive.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field, with at least two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong knowledge of student development theory and co-curricular learning outcomes.

Demonstrated experience in event planning, student advising, or involvement programming.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a student-centered and collaborative approach.

Ability to manage complex projects, prioritize competing demands, and work independently.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and event / project management tools.

Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :

Serve on departmental, divisional, and university committees to represent student engagement perspectives.

Familiarity with Campus Labs Engage or similar involvement and tracking systems.

Experience developing initiatives for first-year or transitional student populations.

Accountabilities :

This position reports to the Director of Student Engagement - Student Organizations and Programs.

Provides direct support to student organizations and campus-wide involvement initiatives.

Oversees communication and implementation of programs designed to increase belonging, especially for first-year students.

Works with minimal supervision.
