In this role, you’ll be a key contributor within cross-functional project teams, working closely with customers and internal partners to develop innovative interconnect and cable assembly solutions for leading medical technology OEMs.

Job Summary : Work with senior level design engineers to complete new product design and development tasks. Generate design concepts in 3D CAD (SolidWorks), generate models for components and assemblies, and create detail drawings. Work with internal and external suppliers to produce prototypes of the product design, completion of test programs, and interpreting results.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Create 3D solid models and 2D detailed design drawings for custom injection molded plastic parts, multi conductor cables, contacts, and other connector related components using SolidWorks and ePDM systems.
  • Create concepts for new products based on customer requirements and communicate the concepts during internal and / or customer design reviews.
  • Complete recommendations for proper dimensional tolerances and tolerancing schemes to support manufacture of the component or product and completing the required mechanical stress analysis to properly design the part and select the material.
  • Create, implement, and manage engineering change orders during product development.

Skills / Qualifications Needed :

  • BS in mechanical engineering or similar STEM major.
  • 0-2 years’ experience or internship experience as a design engineer preferably in an electro-mechanical field.
  • SolidWorks experience.
  • Ability to complete basic tolerance and static stress analysis.
  • Desired Skills / Qualifications :

  • Plastic processing and plastic part design skills.
  • Familiar with use and specifying GD&T.
  • Experience designing electrical connectors and cables for medical devices.
