job_description.job_card.job_descriptionWork in a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within an acute care setting Unit has 30 beds with an average census of 22 patients, serving premature, critically ill, and drug withdrawal neonates from 22 weeks to term Patient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3 in NICU; may float to Pediatrics and Postpartum with ratios of 1 : 4 for Peds Uses Cerner for charting, including the Breast Milk Bridge add-on and HUGS for security Care involves high-frequency ventilators, Draeger vents, Nitric Oxide, NAVA ventilation, Medifusion and transitioning to Alaris IV pumps Nurses interpret telemetry on Phillips monitors; consult NNP or MD for confirmation of arrhythmias No nurse aides available, but charge nurse and 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy present Day shifts available, 12 hours each, with every other weekend and possible additional weekend requirements Floating may be required to Pediatrics and Postpartum for patient assignments, including couplet care Two shift unit orientation included Role involves caring for high acuity preemies, high-volume sepsis, respiratory cases, and infants with drug withdrawal and infections Must be comfortable working with surrogates and high-risk deliveries No neonatal surgeries or ECMO; delivery nurse and RT attend high-risk deliveries Navy blue scrubs required Holiday coverage required for at least 2 out of 3 major holidays No block scheduling permitted No on-call or transport call required for travelers All required Relias and sterile technique testing must be passed prior to start First-time travelers considered Minimal floating to Pediatrics and Postpartum; must be comfortable with couplet care assignments Active CA RN license required at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required BLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS certifications required Experience with Cerner EMR is required Strong IV skills necessary Must complete all required online modules prior to arrival Two professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years Copy of driver's license and Nursys verification required Cannot have been employed directly by CommonSpirit / CHI / Dignity in the past year High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
