American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 3 Neonatal ICU position requiring a CA RN license, Cerner EMR familiarity, and strong IV skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within an acute care settingUnit has 30 beds with an average census of 22 patients, serving premature, critically ill, and drug withdrawal neonates from 22 weeks to termPatient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3 in NICU; may float to Pediatrics and Postpartum with ratios of 1 : 4 for PedsUses Cerner for charting, including the Breast Milk Bridge add-on and HUGS for securityCare involves high-frequency ventilators, Draeger vents, Nitric Oxide, NAVA ventilation, Medifusion and transitioning to Alaris IV pumpsNurses interpret telemetry on Phillips monitors; consult NNP or MD for confirmation of arrhythmiasNo nurse aides available, but charge nurse and 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy presentDay shifts available, 12 hours each, with every other weekend and possible additional weekend requirementsFloating may be required to Pediatrics and Postpartum for patient assignments, including couplet careTwo shift unit orientation includedRole involves caring for high acuity preemies, high-volume sepsis, respiratory cases, and infants with drug withdrawal and infectionsMust be comfortable working with surrogates and high-risk deliveriesNo neonatal surgeries or ECMO; delivery nurse and RT attend high-risk deliveriesNavy blue scrubs requiredHoliday coverage required for at least 2 out of 3 major holidaysNo block scheduling permittedNo on-call or transport call required for travelersAll required Relias and sterile technique testing must be passed prior to startFirst-time travelers consideredMinimal floating to Pediatrics and Postpartum; must be comfortable with couplet care assignments\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of NICU experience requiredBLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS certifications requiredExperience with Cerner EMR is requiredStrong IV skills necessaryMust complete all required online modules prior to arrivalTwo professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 yearsCopy of driver's license and Nursys verification requiredCannot have been employed directly by CommonSpirit / CHI / Dignity in the past year\n Benefits\n
