Job Description
Do you have experience working on heavy equipment? The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for mechanics who take charge and have a high standard of workmanship for our Journey Diesel Mechanic positions in the Heavy Duty Equipment Shop. In this position, you will ensure that maintenance vehicles, such as snow plows, are functioning properly and most importantly- safely. While you will work in a shop environment, this position will also travel to different sites throughout the region to help maintain heavy duty trucks and equipment that are unable to be brought into the shop.

Additional Professional Development Pay :
New hires may receive additional compensation for 12 National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications as part of their bi-weekly paychecks. Currently, each ASE is worth approximately $38.66, equaling $463.98 for a total of 12 ASE's. This is equivalent to approximately an additional $5.80 an hour on a normal 40 hour work week / 80 hour pay period.
Obtaining one ASE certification each month is an expectation of this job. The professional development pay for the certifications is subject to obtaining all 12 ASE's within the 12 month probationary period. If at the end of the probationary period the employee has not obtained all 12 ASE's the professional development pay will be reduced or discontinued. The dollar amount listed above is subject to change based on other legislative authorized increases. ASE pay may be discontinued for reasons such as failing performance evaluations, disciplinary action, budget restrictions, policy changes, etc.
