SUMMARY :
The Sr. Financial Data Analyst serves as the primary contact for financial data, for purposes including but not limited to Health Service Fund reporting & reconciliation for Provider organizations, and Regulatory reporting for State and Federal Entities. This role requires a combination of both technical skills in data analysis and business acumen to understand financial concepts. Thie role will be required to translate contract provisions into financial models and interprets regulatory reporting requirements for accurate completion. The Sr. Financial Data Analyst is a senior level individual contributor role and reports to the Finance Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Financial Analysis and Report Development
- Leverages relationships and collaboration across finance division to build a high level of trust and collaboration in report development, analysis, and timely delivery
- Interprets financial, accounting, and contractual information to ensure accuracy of data used in reporting, analysis, and forecasting
- Utilizes software including Microsoft SQL Server and / or SAS to perform queries utilizing the data warehouse, to refresh financial models and regulatory reports (monthly, quarterly, and annually)Performs financial reconciliations of expenses, revenue, and membership data
- Resource for other members of the department / division on data-based business processes and may be responsible for training and guidance of other associates
- Presents data driven financial information and succinctly communicates analytic observations to internal and external stakeholders
- Evaluates and researches departmental data needs by engaging stake holders and identifying inefficiencies / waste, risks and key person dependencies
- Identifies areas of opportunity to further enhance financial processes and data mining to better align with the corporate wide strategy of Caring, Simplification, and Affordability
Ad hoc Analysis and Finance Support
Works in partnership with the finance business areas to create comprehensive documentation (SOPs), training, and identify key dependenciesCommunicates to stakeholders and leadership on project status, outcomes, and improvementsProvides ad-hoc reporting and analysis for financial, governmental, pharmacy, and administrative data used in strategic decision makingMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or a related field and more than 5 years of financial or analytical experience preferably in an HMO, insurance or healthcare environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Effective at managing competing priorities and can work independently with little oversight. Ideal candidate will be self-motivated and self-startingStrong analysis, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skillsExperience with data interpretation, analysis and reportingExperience with both financial and clinical data, and complexities of models for various types of provider value based risk contractsExperience with allocations and ratios, product mix, and risk adjustment conceptsExperience with SQL and / or SAS. Ability to write and run complex requires is required for this position.Analytical and detail oriented, Audit-minded thought processAdvanced knowledge of Excel functions and formulasKnowledge in dashboard applications such as Power BI, Tableau, etc. a plusAble to work multiple projects at one time and meet tight deadlinesAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamExcellent oral, written, and communication / presentation skillsWORKING CONDITIONS : Works in a standard office-based environment with long periods of data entry, sitting, viewing computer monitors and utilizing virtual communication tools.
