Weekend LPN, 7 South

Join our 7 South team at UPMC as a Licensed Practical Nurse! You will provide care and IV therapy following UPMC guidelines and State Board Regulations, working under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other licensed UPMC provider in med / surg / tele or Emergency Department settings.

This is a weekend position, meaning that the selected candidate will be required to work 48 weekends per year at 24 hours per week. The employee will be considered full time, and will receive a 20% differential on top of their base pay to make up for less hours. You must have at least 6 months of experience to be considered for this position.

7 South is a telemetry medical-surgical unit that specializes in respiratory distress, COPD, heart failure, and post-op including ENT, watchman devices, urological, and gynecological procedures. These positions require working rotating weekend and holiday shifts. You may qualify for a sign on bonus of up to $12,500 based on experience and position status!

Responsibilities : Patient Care :

Exercise sound nursing judgment based on your preparation, knowledge, and experience.

Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care using focused assessment.

Act within LPN Practice guidelines, including IVs, to create a healing environment.

Formulate daily goals and care plans for patients, considering their individual needs.

Communicate patient conditions to other care providers and ensure comprehensive documentation.

Provide patient and family education for effective care transitions.

Collaboration and Communication :

Seek guidance from a licensed professional nurse when patient care needs exceed your scope of practice or ability.

Collaborate with the health care team to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Build compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

Professional Development :

Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved Licensed Practical Nursing Program.

0-2 years of experience.

Completion of IV therapy curriculum within 4 months of hire / transfer. Ability to take nurse assignments at the top of LPN license in med / surg / tele or Emergency Department settings.

Knowledge and skills to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages.

Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.

Ability to assess patient status and interpret age-specific needs.

Identify and implement process improvement opportunities for patient care.

Collaborate with health care team, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :

LPN must maintain state licensure where they are practicing or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. If graduated prior to 2012, the LPN will need to provide official proof of completion of IV therapy approved program within 4 months of hire / transfer.
