Foaling Assistant
Core Responsibilities
Responsibilities described in this section are fundamental to success in this position.
- Responsible for general horse care, equipment and facility maintenance
- Daily feeding and watering of horses
- Daily cleaning of stalls
- Daily cleaning of feed buckets, water troughs, automatic waterers, etc.
- Observation of horses and their overall health
- Prepare breeding room and equipment on breeding days.
- Lead mares to and from stocks
- Clean mares for all procedures
- Assist Veterinarians with all procedures.
- Assist in prepping and packaging semen for shipment.
- Clean and organize breeding labs.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as instructed by Veterinarian.
- Manage farrier schedule.
- Schedule palpations,appointments,etc.as needed.
- Charge medications and treatments through wise option software
- Store tools, materials, and supplies in approved labeled storage areas
- Foaling season duties
- Assist in the barn and office as instructed
- Daily exercise of all Sales Prep Horses.
- Clipping, Bathing, and Grooming of sales prep horses.
- Handling of Sales Prep Horses during sales event off site.
- Regular handling of babies and we an lings for halter breaking and socialization.
- Always maintain a high standard of professionalism with staff and clients.
- All work is to be neat, clean, and professional.
- Clean up after yourself and put all tools back where they be long.
- Uses personal device to provide an additional layer of security for company network and site access through multi-factor authentication.
- Other Responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are the minimum degrees, certifications, knowledge, skill, and / or ability required of this position.
Requires a high school diploma / GED and or an equivalent number of years of education and experience.Must be self-motivated and self-managed.Horse and cattle experience is a plus.Strong organizational skills required.Working knowledge of Microsoft applications is a plus.Experience with young horses required foaling experience required service skills.Valid driver's license with out restrictions that affect your ability to operate company owned vehicle(s) and ability to maintain a clean driving record.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
