The San Diego Unified School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Paraeducator Independence Facilitator - Bilingual / Signing position will use American Sign Language (ASL). This opportunity is open to all interested candidates. This r ecruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list for both Monthly & Substitute Opportunities.

BASIC FUNCTION :

The Paraeducator Independence Facilitator - Bilingual / Signing assists individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning including providing academic support behavior intervention and medical support to students in classroom settings. Assists teachers with instruction and classroom management that occurs in special education and general education classrooms lunchrooms and play environments including distance learning and field trips.

VACANCY / POSITION SPECIFICS :

  • Working Location : Innovation Middle School - 5095 Arvinels Avenue San Diego CA 92117 (Area C)
  • The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to theDistrict Area Map at this Link and make sure to identify any and all specific area(s) you are interested in working in. The area(s) you identify in your application will be used for any future vacancies filled using the eligiblity list from this recruitment
  • Work Schedule : 10months per year / 35hours per week. You must be available to work in person Monday-Friday. The shift time is offered within the school bell schedule.
  • Salary : This position is paid on theParaeducatorSalary Schedule. Grade 032. To view the Salary Schedule click here.
  • Positions greater than 20 hours per week qualify for District-paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents.
  • This recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list for current and future hiring purposes. Additionally successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to substitute.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience :

High School diploma / GED and a passing score on the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) or an Associates degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university. Completion of post high school courses in Psychology Early Childhood Development Elementary Education Special Education or related field is desirable.

NOTE : Your related education and experience must be clearly represented in the work history and education section of your application.

Licenses and Other Requirements :

Maintain district certification in restraint reduction / avoidance.

Maintain district Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation training.
