Job Title : Maintenance Specialist (Part-time, Non-exempt)
Reports to : Operations Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist works individually and with other staff members to support in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of the museum's inner workings. The Facility Maintenance Specialist ensures the safety and functionality of all machinery, as well as prepares the facility to welcome the public. In particular, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for reporting facility issues and keeping the buildings and premises clean, safe, healthful, and in top physical condition. The Facilities Maintenance Specialists demonstrates flexibility, effectiveness, and a positive attitude, actively engages in communication with all other staff members and stays up to date on all necessary inspections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities
- Maintain building systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, mechanical systems, etc.
- Coordinate with Operations Manager to schedule building inspections and maintenance to comply with local, state, and federal codes related to boilers, elevators, fire alarm system, fire extinguishers, and other areas. Work with Operations Manager to schedule inspections with fire marshal, insurance inspector, elevator inspector, and other local authorities as needed.
- Clean and maintain grounds including sprinkler system, lawn, landscaping, building exterior, vehicles, debris removal, etc.
- Work with Operations Manager with vendors and other service providers as directed, soliciting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and bids to get great service at a fair price.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment such as vacuums and carpet extractor.
Exhibit & Program Support
Collaborate with Exhibits Department for fabrication, installs, technological repairs, and exhibit floor readiness.Partner with the Education and Exhibits team to ensure operational needs are met for camps, field trips, and special programs.Perform exhibit repairs and maintenance.Assist with exhibit install.Administration
Work with Operations Manager to develop and maintain a schedule and procedures manual for building maintenance, including steps for preventive maintenance.Work with Operations Manager and various departments to maintain records for MSDS / OSHA standards.Work with CEO and other departments as needed to identify organizational priorities with a goal of excellence in visitor experience, safety, and functionality across all facilities and grounds.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in several of the following trades : carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lawn care, irrigation, construction, etc.High school diplomaExperience operating forklift and scissor liftAbility to regularly lift 50 poundsValid Texas drivers licenseGoal orientedProficient with Google docs, spreadsheets, etc.
