Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION :

Under direct supervision of Chief Financial Officer, to oversee the operational, financial, and administrative functions within the perioperative services of the hospital. This role involves managing the surgical services cycle, from pre-operative assessment through post-operative recovery. The administrator ensures smooth operations, resource allocation, compliance with safety standards, and the delivery of high-quality patient care in the operating room (OR) and associated areas.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

1.Oversee the daily operations of the perioperative services, including scheduling surgeries, staffing, and resource management (equipment, instruments, supplies).

2.Coordinate the activities of perioperative teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technicians.

3.Monitor patient flow through pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative stages to ensure efficiency and minimize delays.

4.Collaborate with the Human Resources department to ensure adequate staffing levels in the operating room, recovery units, and other perioperative areas.

5.Develop, manage, and track the perioperative department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

6.Work with the finance department to monitor billing, reimbursement, and financial reporting related to surgical procedures and patient care.

7.Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).

8.Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, reducing complications, and increasing operational efficiency.

9.Coordinate with medical staff to provide clear communication to patients and their families about surgical procedures, preparation, and recovery.

10.Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, patient outcomes, and other performance metrics.

11.Prepare and present regular reports on perioperative services to hospital administration, surgical committees, and regulatory agencies.

12.Utilize data analytics to identify trends, assess the performance of surgical services, and make recommendations for improvements.

13.Collaborate with the Infection Control Department to address and resolve any issues related to patient safety and infection prevention.

14.Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrading of medical devices and equipment used in surgical procedures.

15.Facilitate regular meetings to discuss operational issues, patient care concerns, and process improvements.

16.Performs other duties as assigned by leadership as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital, Health, Public or Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health or a related discipline; and four (4) years of full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in hospital administration with an emphasis on the development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or

2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in #1 above; and five (5) years of full-time, paid experience, as described in #1 above.
