Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety

Overview

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will develop, monitor, and evaluate health, environmental, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations; provide specialized technical expertise in radioactive waste, biological and chemical safety, occupational safety and hygiene, environmental programs and ergonomics.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Develop, monitor, and evaluate occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Manage and perform annual audits and periodic inspections / evaluations of work environment to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Act as primary contact with Worker’s Compensation insurance carrier, and coordinate EHS programs with requirements of insurance carrier, to include the investigations of incidents and exposures.
• Responsible for EHS related reports to regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, OSHA log, EPA Tier II, SPCC, DNR waste disposal reports, etc.
• Coordinate, manage and facilitate programs, including, but not limited to, biological safety and security, occupational safety, environmental programs, hazardous waste, and ergonomics.
• Train employees in Hazard Communication, Chemical Hygiene, Blood borne Pathogen, Biological Safety, Ergonomics, Office Safety, and other areas as required by local, state, and federal regulations and internal processes.
• Manage the environmental safety program and supervise the investigations of incidents and exposures.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of the facility and monitor employee compliance with the safety program.
• Manage storage and disposal of hazardous and other special waste.
• Remain current on federal, state, and local regulations concerning environmental health and safety.
• Escort auditors and oversee activities associated with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory audits related to safety, health, environment, and security.
• Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on hazardous materials used in the workplace. Generate and update MSDS on products produced on site, as needed.
• Write and implement, in coordination with the senior management team, standard operating procedures related to the EHS function.
• Responsible for applying for and maintaining EHS related permits.
• Manage and coordinate personal protection equipment (PPE) programs including safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, etc.
• Evaluate, maintain, and purchase personal protective equipment for the facility.
• Act as primary contact with local emergency service providers and disaster planning agencies.
• Responsible for conducting periodic drills for fire and tornado.
• Implement cost-effective solutions to EHS issues.
• Provide key support in the development and monitoring of the EHS budget.
• Evaluate new operations, equipment, products, and chemicals for safety requirements.
• Coordinate employee medical health screening and reporting.
• Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all location-based OSHA recordkeeping and reporting obligations.
• Records all work-related injuries and illnesses for covered establishments reviewing incident reports on an annual basis and completes annual summaries
• Ensures all location incident reports, logs, annual summaries and other related docs are saved in a centralized location
