The primary purpose of the Department of Athletics is to provide a program of intercollegiate athletics for students at the university. Primary Purpose of Position : The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Director of Athletic Training Services / Head Athletic Trainer and is independently responsible for the day-to-day sports medicine / athletic training operations of one or more of the Fayetteville State University 11 NCAA D2 athletic teams and Cheerleading. This incumbent will be assign a 10 month work assignment. Duties include but are not limited to :

• Independently and effectively oversee all sports medicine operations for assigned teams with minimum supervision.
• Prevention, Evaluation, Treatment and Rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and illnesses within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program
• Maintain accurate, complete, and precise documentation utilizing an electronic medical record system.
• Completing required insurance claims
• Compliance with privacy regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.)
• Daily interaction and communication with coaching staff including routine reports and correspondence.
• Work closely with / have good work working relationship with team orthopedic practice / team physicians.
• Schedule and coordinate medical appointments.
• Maintain communication with Student Health Services for non-orthopedic illnesses.
• Advocate and provide resources for nutritional and mental health.
• Attending designated team practices / events.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays more than 40 hours / week.
• Travel / Coverage of away events; pending sport assignment.
• Maintenance / Upkeep of Athletic Training equipment and facilities
• Uphold Policies and Procedures set forth by Fayetteville State University, the CIAA Conference, and the NCAA
• Assistance with administrative duties as agreed upon by candidate and Director of Athletic Training Services
