The Public Relations Manager develops and manages a media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media. Facilitate member engagement and provide communications and marketing support – including press releases, social media, graphics and advertising – in alignment with Council policies, standards, goals, objectives, and budget. Support the Council’s participation in national brand initiatives and marketing campaigns to locally advance the brand and support strategic objectives. Identify campaign target audiences and assist in the development of messaging for Council-wide implementation. Research marketing and advertising opportunities and keep up to date on industry data and trends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned.

• Under the supervision and guidance of the Communications Director, develop, implement and track public relations plans, strategies and campaigns to advance the goals and objectives of GSSJC.
• Manage and optimize social media channels with relevant and engaging content.
• Manage GSSJC Media Corps Girl Scouts group and coordinate Girl Scout appearances for media opportunities.
• Prepare compelling press releases announcing Gold Award Girl Scouts, promotions and other newsworthy items.
• Initiate and manage marketing projects in collaboration with appropriate staff within the department, e-newsletters, or email and social media.
• Write copy and promotional articles and coordinate placement with graphics designer.
• Research marketing opportunities and keep up to date on industry data and trends; track performance against peer organizations and maintain an archive of marketing collateral
• Assist Communications Director with Council’s community relations; coordinate Council presence at identified community events; represent Council within the community as needed.
• Assist in the development of annual advertising budget and long-term strategic plan.
• Serve as back-up for photography.
