Machine Shop Supervisor
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machining & Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations within the machine shop and support powder production activities. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of parts, managing a skilled team, and maintaining compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Apply best practices to maximize quality and profitability in part production
- Program, operate, and troubleshoot equipment including lathe, mill, saw, and laser engraver
- Oversee the creation / editing of shop orders and manage prioritization of daily workflow
- Print labels, stage work, and ensure timely completion of orders in coordination with other departments
- Support New Product Development (NPD) initiatives and special projects
Safety & Maintenance
Enforce adherence to safety procedures and promptly report incidentsMaintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work environmentsPerform hazardous waste coordinator duties and serve on Spill Team and Safety CommitteeMonitor, maintain, and facilitate the repair of shop equipmentInventory & ERP Administration
Control and audit inventory using ERP systemExecute inventory adjustments, labor entries, and shop order updatesMaintain supply inventory and execute reorders as neededDevelop and implement cycle counting schedule in collaboration with FinanceQuality & Continuous Improvement
Author and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with the Quality System and ISO standardsLead initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve proceduresParticipate in investigations related to complaints, corrective actions, and engineering changesTeam Leadership & Development
Supervise machinists and production personnelProvide training, mentoring, and performance evaluationsAssist in recruitment and onboarding processesPromote a collaborative and value-driven team cultureQualifications
Associate degree or equivalent experience with a focus in science24 years of supervisory and production experience, with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilitiesProficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with ERP systemsDedicated to workplace safety and continuous improvementProficient in basic mathSkilled in interpreting safety rules, technical documents, and procedure manualsStrong problem-solving abilities using written, oral, and visual instructionsTechnical Competencies
Ability to identify metal alloys by physical characteristicsSkilled in maintaining orientation of cast metal parts during productionBasic operation of CNC Lathe and Mill; experience with various alloys preferredCertified Professional in Waste ManagementAdvanced computer proficiency, including CNC programming and Microsoft OfficeWhat We Can Offer You
